Building Conservation in Perth - Ian Maitland

Location: St George's Square, St George's Terrace

Join heritage engineer Ian Maitland for a one hour walking tour of the Land Titles office
balconies, St George’s Cathedral & Trinity Church. The tour describes engineering
conservation work designed by Ian & carried out over the past twenty years. As much of the
work is hidden from view, attendees will be emailed with a file of images depicting the work
in progress, for downloading onto their Ipad or device & bringing along for the tour.

Ian Maitland is a civil engineer & specialised in heritage engineering during the last twenty
years of his career. He worked on buildings, farm structures, lighthouses, cranes, military
installations, bridges, ruins, monuments & many other types of construction. He retired in
2017. Ian was awarded Medal of Order of Australia in 2015 for Service to Cultural Heritage
and Civil Engineering, & in 2020 was awarded Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia.
