Morowa District Historical Society Inc.

Since its inception in 1973 the Morawa Historical Society Inc. & Museum has gone from strength to strength.   Apart from the Old Police Station Building (pictured above) it now boasts four large sheds, one of which houses a large collection of windmills. There is also a working Blacksmith Shop with Wheelwrights Shop attached. Other sheds house a vast array of items household and otherwise, mostly pertaining to Morawa & districts. We also now have a display of wedding gowns from the 1940’s

Our Machinery Shed was purchased in 2014 with the aid of a Lotterywest Grant & officially opened in September 2015. It was named the John Pulbrook Machinery Shed in honour of our then President who worked extremely hard to obtain the Grant. The Shed is now stocked with harvesters, tractors etc. from the past. We have a large collection of old machinery manuals which are available on CD for a cost of $15.00. We also produce the Windmill Journal which is compiled by one of our members, with four copies printed yearly and is available by subscription at a cost of $20.00.  A research service is also available at a cost of $10.00.

Our membership currently stands at 21 of which a small band are hard working with our main working day every Wednesday –  our meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, 9.30am at the Museum. We open daily during our tourist (wildflower) season which is July to October, Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 9am to 2pm, Wednesday & Friday 9am to 4pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am to 1pm   – $3.00pp entry with children free.
