Volunteering with the Society
Are you an enthusiastic individual who would like to assist in preserving and promoting Western Australian history? If so, the Society can offer you a great opportunity in a wide variety of interesting activities.
We are looking for adaptable people who would be willing to help out in one of the areas of the Society’s work for at least one half day per week. While well-developed computer skills and relevant specific background experience is required for some tasks (eg. database data entry and aspects of Museum item conservation) there are those in each of the following areas that can be undertaken with little or no previous specific experience, a willingness to undergo in-house training and lots of interest and commitment.
Volunteers contribute in various ways in the following areas:
- Bookshop sales, reception and administration
- Readings and publications
- Tours and events
- Promotions and marketing
- Information Technology and social media
- Computer/database management
- Building and equipment maintenance

The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to arrange an appointment for an interview. Once you have been interviewed by her and indicated an area of interest the relevant experienced Volunteer will arrange to meet with you to discuss the work and any training you may require.
